The Cottage Kitchen

I received a copy of the cottage kitchen cookbook and was excited to page through it. It is a beautiful book to look at with pictures of most recipes. Recipes include a variety such as: “Norwegian Yellow Pea Soup with Thyme”, “Tomato Tarte Tartin with Burrata”, “Black Pudding with Scallops and Caviar”; “Potato Soup with Smoked Salmon”; “Truffled Vegetable Toad-in-the-Hole”; “Foie Gras and Kidney Bruschetta with Parsley”; “Elderflower Fritters”; “Campian Citrus Marmalade”; “Kale and Almond Soup”; “Warm Salmon, Mint, and Potato Salad”; “Norwegian Pork Belly with Mustard Coleslaw”; “Sour Cream Porridge”; and “Troll Cream” Many of the recipes used items that seem like they aren't too easy to find, but the warmth and coziness of this cookbook more than makes up for that. If you are looking for some comfort food this winter, pick up a copy of this cookbook.  I received a copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.

Cherry Bombe Cookbook Review

When I read that this cookbook was a collaboration between tons of wonderful women chefs I knew I had to have it! It is a collection of the best recipes. There is so much inspiration from savory to sweet. From Dad's Perfect Sweet Potato Pie by Joy Wilson, to Pumpkin Swirled Mashed Potatoes, Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting and Beer Brined Roast Chicken. All of these recipes are fresh and new and there are so many unique flavor combinations. This cookbook will keep you coming back again and again. The pictures show each recipe, the pages are thick and the book looks beautiful on your coffee table. I highly recommend this best of the best collection. I absolutely love going to the Grand Central Market in Los Angeles. The food, the people, the sights and sounds. I love everything about it! I was super excited to see this cookbook available to order and it did not disappoint. With over 85 recipes, I was super excited to try all of my favorites at home. The photography is beautiful and this book makes not only a great cookbook but an engaging coffee table book. The stories of the recipes and of the market are unique and well told. The recipes were sweet and savory, all types that spanned all kinds of cultures, just like the market does in person. I highly recommend this book to those who love the market as well as people who would like to try to make some of the unique and delicious dishes that you can buy while you are there. This cookbook is like a mini vacation! Set sail on the adventure today without leaving your couch. I received a copy of this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.

I love my instant pot so much that I have two of them, so when I saw this cookbook was available, I jumped at the chance to grab it. It is a good cookbook. Not a ton of recipes, but lots of new ones. Each recipe has a picture accompanying it. There are many soup recipes and dinner recipes along with just a few desserts. Some things I'd like to try are the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake, the Italian Wedding Soup and the Cornbread. Some of the recipes are a little basic, like Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes and Hard Boiled Eggs. It always bothers me when recipes like that are included in a cookbook, but there a quite a few here. Many of these recipes also call for specific pans and bowls to cook with inside of the instant pot, so you can't really only use the instant pot and the ingredients. Without the right pan, I'd imagine many of these recipes wouldn't turn out. Overall it is a good book to add to my growing collection of Instant Pot recipe books. Is it the definitive go to cookbook, probably not, but there are a few fresh and new ideas. I received a copy of this cookbook for free in exchange for my honest review from Blogging for Books.

Martha Stewarts Slow Cooker Cookbook Review

I wanted to love this book. I was so super excited to get it, but the recipes fell a little flat. I have many slow cooker cookbooks and many of Martha Stewarts cookbooks, so when I had the chance to review the Martha Stewarts Slow Cooker cookbook, I jumped at the chance.  First off, there are lots of recipes, all with full color photos. The recipes though are a little strange. There is Chawanmushi, Duck Carnitas Tacos, and Tom Kha Gai, just to name a few. The ingredient list is a little exotic and not early found in most supermarkets. After thumbing through this book, I found maybe 5 recipes that I actually wanted to make.. So if you are looking for a completely different slow cooker cookbook with recipes unlike any you've ever seen, then this is the book for you. Roadfood Book Review

We travel a lot for personal pleasure and do tons of road trips throughout the summer, so you can imagine I was super excited to get the Roadfood book and start trying many of the places it recommends. The book is broken down into different places to eat by state. Some of the places I had never heard of and some I did. I think I was overall a little disappointed in the types of places there were to choose from in this book. Many were diners and some seemed like real dives. I use trip advisor a lot to find new places and have found their ratings and reviews to be a reliable indicator of how good a place is or isn't. Many of the places in this book were not rated so well by trip advisor and so I was very hesitant to try them. It made me wonder how the authors came up with their places that they considered to have the best road food. I do keep this book in my car as a handy reference, but you can safely skip it and use the many resources you have available by just using your smartphone. I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review from Blogging for Books. All opinions are my own.

I received this book and was excited to see what it would be like. I have many of the. Food52 cookbooks and tons of ice cream cookbooks. I was interested to see how this one would stack up. It did not disappoint There are so many new and exciting recipes and I can't wait to try them out! From a million ways to make a milkshake, to Chocolate Tacos, Amores Ice cream, Savory Ice creams and sherbets and much more. This book truly has a wonderful eclectic mix of fresh and exciting recipes to try. This might not be my go to book for basic things like chocolate and vanilla, but it will be when I am in the mood to try something fun and different. I highly recommend adding this cookbook to your collections.  I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest. review from Blogging for Books.

Dinner Review

I received a copy of Dinner and I was totally excited to start paging through it and bookmarking what I'd like to make. This book had me marking just about every page! Everything looks delicious and easy to make. Most things my picky kids would like as well. It is also great as a last minute reference, when you are wondering what exactly you should make for dinner. It is broken down by ingredients. For example, if you have chicken in your fridge, just turn to the chapter on chicken and voila there  you will have recipes that use chicken as the main part of the meal. This makes using the cookbook very easy. This book has everything you could possibly need to get dinner on the table very quickly. It takes a lot of the thinking out of it which on some evenings is very much appreciated. The only downside is that some of the items are a little spicy for my kids taste. I tend to skip over the recipes that I know my kids wont't eat. But all in all this book is a treasure trove of wonderful dinners that your family will love. I highly recommend adding this cookbook to your collection. I received a copy of this cookbook for free in exchange for my honest review from Blogging for Books.

I received a copy of the One Pan & Done cookbook at a time where I feel like I am in a rut with making healthy and flavorful dinners that my kids actually want to eat. This cookbook is perfect and gives you so many wonderful ideas for family dinners that are quick and easy. My kids loved the Tomato Galette with Savory Oat Crumble, and the Baked Spring Risotto. I can't wait to try the chocolate molten caramel mini cakes and the Cookies and Cream Upside down cake. The book is broken down into chapters by the type of Meat you will be using which I find very helpful. There is a recipe for whatever you have in the fridge. There are also many vegetables included with the recipes so you feel as if your family is getting a well balanced meal. Overall this cookbook will get a lot of use. I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book if you, like me are in a rut and need new and fresh ideas for dinner. The Dumpling Galaxy Cookbook Review

I was so super excited to get to review The Dumpling Galaxy Cookbook. I've always wanted to try making my own dumplings. This book is great in that it gives you so many varieties to choose from. From sweet to savory they are all included in this cookbook. Also, you can use the premise dumpling wrappers from the supermarket to make most of these which makes them so easy and convenient. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this cookbook and am so happy to be able to add it to my collection. Instead of going for takeout, I can now make these at home with my own ingredients and there are so many varieties. If you like dumplings, get this cookbook! I received a free copy of this cookbook in exchange for my honest review from Blogging for Books.

I was excited to get my hands on a copy of Eat Beautiful by Wendy Rowe. This book is a comprehensive guide to beauty on the outside. Instead of just being a cookbook, this book starts out by talking about good digestion and how to detoxify your body. There are a few detox recipes. All look interesting, but I'm not sure I will try them anytime soon. The recipes are broken down by season with the philosophy that eating in season is whats best for your body. The recipes were all quite interesting. I can't wait to try the Cucumber and Mango Salsa and the Kiwi Pancakes. Overall a great addition to any cookbook collection and a lot of helpful practical advice on how to look your best.
